BACKGROUND

A new San Francisco-based startup develops AI guidance systems to transform heavy equipment into fully autonomous robots. Their guidance systems are deployed today across the $1 trillion earthmoving industry. This guidance system combines sensors such as GPS, cameras, and Lidar with advanced software. Their robots are being used to build critical infrastructures such as wind farms, gas pipelines, and new housing developments. These robots make construction safer, faster, and more affordable. Antaira was able to provide an industrial 10G PoE+ solution to bolster their guidance systems and associated devices.

THE CHALLENGE

This unique application had a few obstacles to overcome. Autonomous earthmovers have shock, vibration, and temperature issues to consider as well as 24VDC operating power requirements to meet. The customer required a switch with 8 Gig PoE+ ports and 2 10G fiber uplinks. This switch must be able to support multiple, simultaneously streaming, GigE Vision cameras and various ancillary devices reliably with no latency issues.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  • Robust, DIN mount switch that can withstand shock and vibration
  • 8* Gig 30w PoE+ ports
  • 2* 10G fiber ports
  • Must operate at 24VDC system power
  • Must withstand high temperatures for extended periods of time

THE SOLUTION

Antaira's LNP-1002G-10G-SFP-24 is perfectly suited for these robots. This unit allows 8 Gig PoE+ ports to support all ancillary and streaming vision devices for their guidance system. Two 10G fiber uplinks and 56Gbps Back-Plane ensure no latency issues. 24VDC power input allows this unit to integrate seamlessly into their existing 24V system. The rugged construction and wide temperature range are tailor-made for this demanding application. Antaira's short lead times ensured the customer received the product as needed, saving their team valuable time during development.

uEye XC AUTOMATICALLY PERFECT IMAGES

uEye XC AUTOMATICALLY PERFECT IMAGES

Combining the ease of use of a webcam with the performance and reliability of an industrial camera? The uEye XC autofocus camera from IDS Imaging Development Systems proves that this is possible. Its high-resolution imaging, simple setup and adaptability make it an invaluable tool for improving quality control and streamlining workflows in industrial settings - especially for cases where users would normally employ a webcam. The uEye XC autofocus camera features a 13 MP onsemi sensor and supports two different protocols: USB3 Vision, which enables programmability and customization, and UVC (USB Video Class). The UVC functionality enables a single cable connection for easy setup and commissioning, while delivering high-resolution images and video. This makes the uEye XC camera an ideal option for applications that require quick setup and need to manage variable object distances. Additional features such as digital zoom, automatic white balance and color correction ensure precise detail capture, which is essential for quality control.
